Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi has been given a 93 per cent chance of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

According to Diario AS, Messi is in line to win a record-extending Ballon d’Or, having won it seven times already.

This follows the 36-year-old’s finally winning the World Cup with Argentina in December 2022.

Messi’s impressive outing in Qatar and his stunning start to life in MLS, have seen him now 1/14 to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Haaland.

Haaland took the Premier League by storm during his debut season after arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway striker scored 52 goals in 55 matches as City won the Treble.
