A Baringo court has sentenced a man found guilty of robbery with violence to life in prison.
Peter Natesero Lengusu was convicted of the offence, which occurred on 10th August 2024 at Kampi Turkana village in Marigat Location, Baringo South Sub-County, where he accosted the victim in the company of his accomplices, who are still at large.
Together with his accomplices, the accused robbed the victim of his mobile phone and later assaulted him.
It was further revealed that Lengusu evaded justice for some time before being apprehended by members of the community, who alerted the police, leading to his arrest.
When delivering the judgment, Kabarnet Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Ateya considered the gravity of the case and the accused’s lack of remorse.
The court also noted the accused’s threats to kill the victim and other persons involved in his arrest, as well as his remarks telling his targets to “start digging their graves before he arrives from prison.” These were highlighted as signs of ongoing danger, prompting the magistrate to impose the maximum sentence provided for in law: life imprisonment.
