Police are investigating the death of a Sacho High School teacher whose body was found in the institution’s swimming pool in unclear circumstances on Wednesday night.

The lifeless body of Ivan Komen, 30, was discovered by the school swimming pool attendant at around 11pm.

Komen also doubled up as a games master in the school.

While confirming the incident, Sacho location Chief Philip Korir regretted the demise of the school teacher, saying the report was made by the pool attendant.

“I was informed of the news by Samuel Cheburet, who is a swimming pool attendant at the school, that he had seen a body inside the pool, I immediately rushed to the scene where we saw the body of the deceased floating inside in the pool,” Korir told the K24 Digital.

He further said that he contacted police officers from Kabarnet police station who helped in retrieving the body and processing the scene.

According to police reports, the body had some slight injury on the forehead, and some of his personal items were also found in the pool.

The teacher is said to have gone missing soon after evening classes and after a thorough search, his lifeless body was found floating in the pool.

The chief called on the youth and residents not to suffer in silence and encouraged them to seek help in good time.

The administrator noted that conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress can affect mental health and disrupt a person’s routine.

The body of the deceased was taken to Baringo Referral Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
