Residents of Kabartonjo in Baringo North Sub-county are living in fear after discovering the body of a middle-aged woman lying dead near a junction connecting Kabartonjo-Moi Boys High School school road early Wednesday.

According to Chamgei FM listeners, the woman’s body was discovered motionless and naked, with her eyes gouged out and the skin on her face frayed.

According to businessman Stanley Kipkechem, they have never witnessed such a horrific incident in the area.

Kipkechem added that early business activities in Kabartonjo town came to a halt as locals flocked to the area to try to identify the woman.

They believe she was murdered elsewhere and her body was dumped in the thickest part of the junction because there was no blood in the area where the body was discovered.

Police officers dispatched to the scene arrived shortly after, with area OCS Duncan Mwangi confirming the incident.

Mwangi said that police are conducting investigations into the gruesome murder.

Mary Talaai, a trader in the area, stated that the road leading to Moi Boys Secondary School has become dangerous due to a battery of youths hanging along the thick road that runs through the forest.

Residents are now urging police to increase patrols in the area, as they condemn the brutal killing of a woman who is believed to be a resident of the area.

Meanwhile, the body has been moved from the scene to Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
