A section of traders in Mukinduri, Kirinyaga county, have decried a beetle invasion, which they say has made them lose business as clients fear attacks.
Speaking to Wananchi Reporting on Tuesday, Jane Wambura, a trader said, “We hope the government will step in to deal with the situation because these insects have caused us a lot of trouble in our businesses.”
Another trader by the name Mathew Ngatia said that no business has been spared, including barbers, whom he said have lost customers as they do not appreciate being attacked by the insects.
“You’ll find regular patrons opting to go elsewhere because the beetles keep attacking them and it is uncomfortable,” he said.
Jane Wachira, a cereals trader, said, “I ended up not opening my business because the insects find their way to the cereals and it becomes hard to sell them.”
