Several areas across the country will experience a planned power blackout on Monday, February 9, as Kenya Power is set to carry out routine maintenance.
In a statement on Sunday, February 8, 2026, KPLC wrote, “Good afternoon, please find attached the details of the planned maintenance scheduled for tomorrow (9.02.2026).”
Nairobi County
In Nairobi County, the planned blackout will affect part of Mowlem. Kenya Power said customers in Tononoka and adjacent areas will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Residents and businesses in the area are advised to plan their activities.
Kiambu County
Parts of Kiambu County will experience power interruptions during the same period. Affected areas include Kilimambogo Millers, Behind TIBS, White Sisters, Parts of Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa Mkt, Magumu, Gakui S/Center, Ndula Mkt, Chui Rapid Kilimambogo TTC, Ngoliba Mkt, Magogoni Mkt, Gateiguru, Kenchick, Kiboko Farm, Parts of Delmonte, Makutano Kwa DC, Rubiru, Macvast, Iembeni, Gituamba Police, Helena Quarry, Kahonoki, WB Quarry, Total Petrol Stn Near Bidco, Muka Mukuu Substation, Ndula Substation, Donyo Sabuk Market and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County
In Nyeri County, the blackout will affect Skuta, Meeting Point, and Thunguma areas. Kenya Power listed Swahili Village, County Assembly of Nyeri, Immaculate Hospital, PCEA Ruringu, Thunguma Market, schools, and nearby villages among the locations that will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Murang’a County
Parts of Murang’a County will also be affected. Areas listed include Kenol, Makuyu, and Ithanga.

Locations such as Kamahuha Dairy, Kenol Town, Makuyu Town, Kabati, Ndithini Mission, Ithanga Junction, Kakuzi Farm, Milaani Market, and nearby institutions will experience the outage during the maintenance period.
Makueni County
In Makueni County, the planned power interruption will affect parts of Salama. Kenya Power said areas including Sultan, Kiu, Kiongwani, Salama, Malili, Ulu, Nunguni, Kikoko, Musalala, Kyambeke, Kalongo, and surrounding areas will be without electricity between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
Nakuru County
Parts of Nakuru County will also be affected by the blackout. Kenya Power said Olenguruone Market and Kirenget areas will experience a power interruption from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The outage will cover Olenguruone Market, Kirenget, Kiptagich Tea Factory, KTDA, and Chemusian.
Kericho County
In Kericho County, the blackout will affect parts of Bureti. Areas listed include Bureti Tea Factory, Kabitungu Secondary School, Tulwet Booster, Chomisian, Chelal Tea Factory, Chesamisiet Primary School, Korara, Ngoina, and nearby locations.
West Pokot County
West Pokot County will experience power interruptions in Orolwo, Konyao, Kesogon, and Chewoyet areas. Affected locations include Lokichar, Timale, Karameri, Kodera, Alale, Kasei, and surrounding villages during the maintenance period.
Nyamira County
In Nyamira County, parts of the Kemera and Tombe Tea Factory areas will be affected. Kenya Power said Kemera Market, Tombe Tea Factory, Kiendege Secondary School, Magombo Market, Nyambaria School, and adjacent areas will be without power during the planned outage.
