A group of youthful boda boda riders in Uriri, Migori County have embarked on a campaign to eliminate dirt and alcoholism within their community.
The Oyara youth group is cracking the whip on members who are dirty and those riding while drunk as part of the move to restore sanity in the sector.
The riders’ leadership yesterday seized two riders who have allegedly not bathed for several days and washed them forcefully at a river in Oyani.
The riders’ leadership through their chairperson John Owino said they have been receiving a lot of complaints from their clients who have raised concern over the dirty riders.
Owino said they are going to ensure that all the riders are bathe regularly and that they put on clean clothes.
The riders’ leadership has also insisted that they are not going to allow drunk persons to ride the bikes.
Quinter Anyango lauded the riders for taking the bold step to clean the dirty riders saying that some of them have awful odour, which discourages passengers from using motorcycles.
The riders’ leadership has also warned the boda boda riders who are not registered to any boda boda group.
