Boda boda rider dies, 2 lorry drivers injured in Kisumu road accident

A boda boda rider lost his life on Friday, May 19, 2023, in a road accident along the Kisumu-Kakamega road.

The incident took place around 8pm when two lorries heading in opposite directions, one from Kakamega heading to Kisumu and the other one from Kisumu heading to Kakamega collided head on.

In the process, the rider who was overtaking heading to Kisumu was hit and died on the spot.

After the incident, witnesses blamed the two drivers for overspeed forcing officers drawn from Mbale Police Station to rush to the scene to save them from angry mob baying for their blood.
Rider’s body taken to mortuary

Meanwhile, the deceased who hail from Nyahera village in Vihiga County was taken to Mbale Hospital mortuary.

The injured drivers are recuperating at the same hospital.

The two lorries were taken to Mbale Police Station.

The matter remains under investigation.
