Boda boda rider who knocked late Banissa MP charged in court

A boda boda rider who knocked Banissa Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Kulow Hassan was on Friday, March 31, 2023, charged with several traffic offences.

Appearing before Milimani magistrate Esther Kimilu Philip, Mweteli denied four traffic-related offices of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to report an accident, riding a cycle vehicle without a licence, failure to carry a driving licence and failure to stop after being involved in a road accident.

The prosecution alleged that Mwetali on March 25, 2023, at around 10:22 pm on Daidai road along South B being a rider of motorcycle registration number KMGA 624H make Dayun caused the death of a pedestrian namely MP Kulow.

The MP passed on while receiving treatment at Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi county.

After denying the charge, the susThe magistrate released him on a cash bail of Ksh300,000 or a bond of Ksh500,000.pect urged the court to release him on bail saying he will abide by all conditions set by the court.

The case will be mentioned on April 18, 2023, for pretrial.
