A body of an unidentified man was on Sunday found at Wanyiba falls in river Rwamuthambi, Kirinyaga County.
The body was found by residents who had gone to fetch water at the river at around 5:00pm. They then informed police from Kiamaciri station, who arrived at the scene immediately.
The incident is not the first to be witnessed at the Wanyiba fall. On October 27, 2023 a body of a Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officer was found in the same fall.
The officer was later identified and buried at his Kagio farm.
According to Muthigi assistant chief Chrispina Gathoni, cases of bodies being found in rivers and along the roads are worrying in Kirinyaga.
On March 14, 2024 the naked body of an unidentified woman was found dumped at Cumbiri, near rice farms along Mutithi-Kandongu-Kagio and was taken to Kerugoya mortuary.
Two weeks before another lifeless body of a woman was found dumped at Rukanga along Makutano-Sagana highway. She was later identified as a blogger from Tharaka Nithi County
The body retrieved on Sunday was taken to Kerugoya referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
