Bomet: School girl delivers baby in pit latrine

School programs at Koiyet Secondary School in Bomet County were paralyzed on Monday morning after a student gave birth in the toilet.

The form four student threw inside the pit latrine and proceeded to join others in class.

Chepalungu sub-county police boss Phanton Analo said the incident was reported by the school principal that the 19-year-old was seen bleeding excessively while seated in class, prompting other students to call for help.

The teacher on duty rushed to the class and found that the said student, after reliving herself in the toilet decided to conceal that she had given birth.

The school principal mobilized the staff and members of the public who assisted in retrieving the infant and were both rushed to Sigor sub county hospital and later referred to Longisa County Hospital.
