Learning and other activities were interrupted on Tuesday evening at Bukacha Primary School in Bomet County, after a male teacher sneaked into his colleague’s room at the staff quarters and took his own life.

The body of the deceased was found dangling on top of the roof by his colleague.

According to Bomet East Sub- county police boss John Karani, the deceased was seen entering the said room and never came out.

Mr.Karani said a team of officers from his office and those from the education department are conducting investigations to establish what exactly happened, considering he didn’t leave a note at the scene.

Bomet KNUT branch executive secretary Malel Langat said the deceased was one of the teachers who successfully managed to get a transfer to his home county from the neighboring Narok County.

“It’s sad that we have lost him. He was one of the lucky teachers to benefit from the recent transfers. He had been operating from home to school since he come from around. We are appealing to the government to provide counseling to teachers who are undergoing myriads of challenges,” said Langat.
