A police constable has shot himself dead in his house at Bondo police station.

The officer, Michael Kyalo, allegedly shot himself after shooting and seriously injuring his wife.

According to Bondo sub-county police commander Ibrahim Kosi, the officer is suspected to have had a domestic squabble with his wife on Friday, July 7, 2023, resulting to the unfortunate incident.

“The deceased and wife had differed over domestic squabbles pegged on mistrust and engaged in a bitter exchange of words that led to the shootings,” Kosi said.

The police commander stated that the officer’s wife who sustained serious injury was rushed to Bondo Sub-county Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Mr Kosi said that investigations into the matter have been launched.

While confirming the incident, the police boss stated that the body of the officer has since been moved to Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
