Renowned activist Boniface Mwangi has launched an appeal to fund his 2027 presidential bid.

In a statement released on his official social media profiles, the journalist appealed for support as he takes a stab at the highest office in the land, hinting at what he hopes to achieve.

Mwangi noted that after 20 years of fighting in the streets, he is taking the battle to the ballot, hoping to emerge victorious and fix the challenges facing Kenya.

“After 20 years fighting for justice on the streets, I’m taking the fight to the ballot box. Running for president in 2027 to build a Kenya that works for us & our kids. This is a grassroots movement powered by you,” Mwangi said.

He noted that his bid is a grassroots movement, powered by ordinary Kenyans seeking to transform the country and build a nation that works for the present and future generations.

Mwangi’s activism

For more than 20 years, Mwangi has been a fierce advocate of the rule of law, a committed human rights defender and a champion of good governance.

He has been consistent in his activism, showing up in the streets and boldly speaking truth to power when the situation calls for it.

From fighting corruption to challenging police brutality and confronting lawmakers when they want to hike their pay at a time when the taxpayer is overburdened, he has been consistent in his messaging.

Despite pressure and intimidation, including arrests and abductions, he has remained firm in his course, assuring Kenyans that he will never betray them.

Loyalty

Speaking exclusively to a local TV station on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Mwangi said that if it were selling out, the past two years would have been his moment.

“There was a bullet in my bag, my house was bombed, and no one was arrested. They have done the worst they can ever do. I will never give up or sell out.

“I know Kenyan people understand that I have been at the forefront in the streets for the past 20 years. It was very easy for me to sell out for the past two years because for these guys, it’s about money,” he said.
