Principal Secretary nominee for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Stephen Isaboke says his net worth is about Ksh.680.5 million.

The former MultiChoice Group Executive and Head of Regulatory Affairs revealed his wealth on Friday before the National Assembly Committee on vetting.

He noted that his wealth is composed of ownership of assets and bonds.

“My Net worth is Ksh.680, 519, 812, which is made up of land, houses and apartments, cars, shares and bonds and cash,” he said.

During the vetting, Isaboke committed to upholding the rule of law in carrying out his mandate to ensure press freedom and speech are protected.

He also welcomed consultations to ensure that his tenure is seamless and all stakeholders are involved in bringing sanity to the media.

“Media freedom and freedom of speech are enshrined in our constitution and no one can touch them…My approach will be to refer to the law first and make sure the constitution is being respected by both government agencies and media operators,” he said.

“Media freedom is embedded in the Constitution. If there are instances of tension or misunderstandings between the media and other establishments, state or otherwise, the first intervention should be engagement.”
If confirmed, Isaboke will take over from the outgoing Professor Edward Kisiang’ani, who was appointed as senior advisor and member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors.
