Bungoma County leaders led by Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, have called on the Inspector General of police Japhet Koome to intervene on the rising insecurity in the region.

Wakoli was speaking at Kaptama, Mt. Elgon, where a businessman who was a pastor of a local church was shot on Friday by a gun wielding gang.

“These officers will have to be transferred, I will not sit back as our people are not protected,” Wakoli said.

“We want justice for pastor. We want to know what issues the assailants had with him. We were enjoying security here, we do not want to be taken back to dark days,” said Bungoma deputy governor Jennifer Mbatiany.
The late David Ngeywo was attacked and shot at the back at Kaptama market, raising concern over the increased insecurity.

Kimilili legislator Didmus Barasa also called on the transfer of security officers operating in Bungoma County and have served for more than 15 yrs in one police station.

Sentiments echoed by his counterpart from Webuye West Martin Wanyonyi Pepela.

The leaders say insecurity incidents have been rampant in Kimilili, Kanduyi, Kabuchai and Mt. Elgon constituencies blaming the laxity of Bungoma County security bosses.
