Gor Mahia will aim to put a two-week blip behind them and get back to winning ways when they face tricky City Stars on Saturday in a top of the table FKF-Premier League clash to be staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
The reigning champions were given a reality check as their impressive, 100 per cent start to the season came to an abrupt halt with a 3-1 defeat to Police FC on February 3 before they were held to a barren draw by Ulinzi Stars seven days later.
Captain Philomen Otieno has backed the playing unit to bounce back against City Stars, and the squad is desperate to avoid the slump to develop into anything more serious.
“We are working hard to make sure that we get back to winning ways and we’ve not slowed down. It hasn’t been good for us in the past two games and we know the importance of winning matches to make our fans happy and that is what we determined to do in the coming matches,” said Otieno
City Stars are placed second on 37 points, seven adrift of the leaders and Otieno is wary of the danger they have posed.
“We haven’t panicked at all about our recent performance and we are determined to get back to winning ways and defend the title.
“We know how good City Stars are and they are not in that position by luck. We will go into that game with the aim of maintaining tactical discipline in all the departments to ensure we get maximum points.”
City Stars bounced back to winning ways last Sunday with a 1-0 triumph over Bandari FC as their upturn in form continued, dislodging this season’s surprise package Posta Rangers from the second spot.
