The collaboration between Prince Indah and Samidoh has expanded beyond the realm of music into the film industry with their latest project, “Kienyeji.”

This film delves into the complexities of intermarriages in Kenya and the challenges faced by the individuals involved. As Executive Producers, both artists aim to raise awareness among their global fanbase through this cinematic venture.

“Kienyeji” embraces a culturally rich theme, incorporating elements of Ohangla/Ajawa and Mugithi, celebrated Kenyan vernacular music genres. In addition to its thematic depth, the film features captivating performances by Prince Indah and Samidoh themselves, portraying their musical personas to enthusiastic audiences.

Actress Nyokabi Macharia, known for her role in the Netflix international episode of ‘Big Mouth’ Season 7, takes on the starring role in “Kienyeji,” with Ywaya Xavier adding further depth to the narrative as the main protagonist. Macharia expressed her excitement about the historic crossover between music and film and praised the collaborative efforts of Samidoh and Prince Indah in bringing the project to fruition.

“I loved how different my character was in this movie contrary to what I’ve played before, so I’m excited to watch what we created,” she stated.
“The other exciting thing about this body of work is the crossover between film and music! Incorporating two of the biggest cultural phenomena in the music industry. The film celebrates the fusion of their highly cherished music together with a timeless love story!”

On his part, Ywaya Xavier is a celebrated Kenyan star whose credits includes starring roles in local blockbusters ‘40 Sticks,’ ‘Murder Camp’ and ‘Igiza.’

‘Kienyeji’ is set to premiere on June 8, 2024, at the KICC COMESA grounds in Nairobi.
This is not the first project Indah and Samidoh are partnering in – the two musicians famously collaborated on a hit song named ‘Bado Nakupenda’ in 2023.
