Southampton manager, Russel Martin has lauded Joe Aribo for his resilience following his revival at the club.

Aribo struggled to break into the Saints first team earlier in the season following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Nigeria international recently regained his place in the team and churned out a series of impressive displays for the South Coast club.

The midfielder scored his first goal of the season in Southampton’s 5-0 rout of Swansea City on Boxing Day.

Martin eulogised the 27-year-old for fighting his way back to the team.

“When he [Joe Aribo] wasn’t playing, he didn’t show frustration with the players, he trained like a beast,” the gaffer said after the game.

“He would come speak to me and get his frustration out.”

Southampton extended their unbeaten run to 16 games following the win against Swansea City.
