Jeremiah Anakoli Amoyo has been granted bail of Sh1 million after being charged with theft. Amoyo appeared before the Milimani Courts, where he faced allegations of stealing Sh9,113,748.25 on various dates between February 1 and February 5, 2024, from EcoBank Limited’s Westlands Branch in Nairobi.

Additionally, he was charged with the alternative offense of intentionally withholding an electronic payment of the same amount, which was mistakenly deposited into his account instead of the intended account within the bank.

The alleged withholding occurred on February 1, 2024. Amoyo was arrested on August 21, 2024, and the state has listed five witnesses in the case. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi released him on a Sh1 million bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.
