Choreographer Chiki Kuruka has shared her excitement and pride ahead of Solfest Africa 2025, describing it as her best yet in terms of creativity, preparation, and teamwork.

In a statement on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Kuruka revealed that over the past four to five months, her team has created more than 50 choreographies, teaching them to both the dance team and performing artists.

The routines feature a mix of styles, including Vogue, ballet, dancehall, Afro, Bhangra, BBoy, Hip Hop, House, Funk, Jazz, K-pop, Krump, Contemporary, Odi, Singeli, Chekacha, Traditional African, and Salsa, among others.

“We RESEARCHED, we scrapped, and we restarted MULTIPLE times. All to create something we are EXTREMELY proud of,” she stated.

Kuruka also emphasized that the dance team represents the diversity of Kenya, including performers of different body types, genders, orientations, and backgrounds.

“We also ensured the team this year represented Kenya as we see it! Different body types, different backgrounds, male, female, different orientations. To show that dance is and should be home to everyone. @am_a_vibe__ I wouldn’t kill my body like this with anyone else.”

Acknowledging the support from collaborators, Kuruka thanked Young Tit Studios and Colloblue UDC, noting that their team members performed exceptionally well during rehearsals

“Tonight is the show for sure. But no matter what, the work that has taken place over the last months is something I will forever be proud of, and of the entire dance team,” she added.

The SolFest 2025 VIP show declared a total sell-out hours before the first note was even played.

Despite a staggering price tag of up to Ksh25,000 per ticket, the demand for the 5th-anniversary celebration has been unprecedented.

Organisers were forced to pull the shutters on ticket sales at 5:00 pm yesterday to preserve the intimate and high-end atmosphere promised to the city’s big spenders.

Lucky ticket holders arriving at Uhuru Gardens tonight are set for more than just a musical masterclass. The VIP experience includes a “welcome drink” reception followed by a legendary unlimited BBQ dinner provided by the world-famous Carnivore restaurant.

From succulent beef and pork to more adventurous “beast” carvings, the culinary offering has turned the concert into the ultimate “see-and-be-seen” gala for Kenya’s socialites and business titans.
