Tanzanian singer Harmonize is at the centre of a social media storm after a private video of him in tears, pleading with a woman, surfaced online and spread rapidly across platforms.
The woman behind the leak is Cristina Celi, who goes by the username Queenofsoulss online. Celi is a businesswoman who also appeared as the video vixen in Harmonize’s music video “Kudos,” giving the two a prior professional connection that has now become very public.
What did Harmonize’s leaked video reveal?
According to reports, the fallout began after allegations that Celi used Harmonize’s bank card without his consent. The disputed transactions reportedly totalled around USD 4,000, equivalent to roughly TSh 10 million. Harmonize is said to have tracked Celi down to a hotel in Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam, and even brought police along in his bid to recover the card.
After the incident became known, Harmonize went on to downplay the whole affair publicly. He told the public they had never been in a romantic relationship, a move that appeared to infuriate Celi.
Feeling publicly disrespected by Harmonize’s denial, Celi chose to hit back hard. She shared private screenshots alongside the now-viral video showing the singer visibly emotional and in distress.
In the footage, Harmonize is seen breaking down in tears and repeatedly telling Celi:
“I’m here because of you.”
Celi claimed the singer had actually begged her to come to his house so they could sort out their issues privately. She also issued a pointed warning:
“Two can play the game.”
She later confronted Harmonize about behaviour that had made her uncomfortable while they were returning to his house in Dar es Salaam. She claimed she sat him down and told him she felt they would not work out, accusing him of being disrespectful towards people.
According to Celi, Harmonize suggested she was overthinking the situation and asked whether she wanted to take some space, but she maintained that she wanted to leave.
She also revealed that she had previously gone through Harmonize’s phone, as she said couples sometimes do, and claimed she discovered information that gave her a deeper understanding of his character and the kind of person he was.
The video triggered a wave of debate online, with many people weighing in on whether Celi was justified in making the footage public.
Harmonize has since responded to the wider controversy but has largely steered clear of addressing the leaked video directly. Instead, he appears to have chosen to redirect attention towards his music work rather than engage further with the unfolding social media drama.
