Ms Joy Karwithia Kaaria, an employee of Revere Technologies Limited, faced charges of stealing a Range Rover Evoque valued at Sh3.2 million at the Milimani Law Courts.

During the proceedings before Milimani Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Ms Dolphine Alego, it was revealed that Ms Kaaria allegedly stole the high-end vehicle on September 30, 2023, from Crescent Business Center within Nairobi County.

The Range Rover Evoque, bearing registration number KCX 783E, was purportedly taken while in her possession by virtue of her employment at Revere Technologies Limited.

Ms Kaaria denied the charges, and her defense lawyer sought lenient bond terms, citing her responsibilities as a mother.

The defense informed the court that Ms Kaaria had been dismissed from her job in September 2023 and had not received her dues.

The lawyer also highlighted an ongoing High Court case (E899/2023) related to the ownership of the contested motor vehicle, with the complainant in the current case also being the plaintiff in the other matter.

Senior Principal Magistrate Ms Alego granted Ms Kaaria a bond of Sh500,000 with two sureties of the same amount.

Alternatively, she could deposit a cash bail of Sh100,000 with two contact persons. The court directed that the case be mentioned on January 16, 2024, for pre-trial directions.
