It’s fortunate that all nineteen fishermen were rescued after their boat capsized in Kwale County. Reports suggest that the incident occurred due to strong waves hitting the boat in the Vanga area of Lungalunga Constituency. Prompt response from the Coast Guard ensured the safety of all occupants.

This incident serves as a reminder for fishermen to exercise caution, especially in light of recent weather advisories. The Kenya Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and large ocean waves for the next four days.

These conditions are expected to particularly impact areas such as the Rift Valley, Nairobi, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Coast regions.

Given the risks posed by adverse weather conditions, it’s crucial for fishermen and other maritime workers to prioritize safety and adhere to weather advisories to prevent such accidents in the future.
