Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has reflected on their 4-3 defeat to Al-Hilal in the Round of 16.

Bernardo Silva put Guardiola’s men in front early in the ninth minute.

But Al-Hilal scored twice through Marcos Leonardo and Malcom to flip the game.

Erling Haaland equalised for City in the 55th minute, before Kalidou Koulibaly headed in Rúben Neves’ corner to put the Saudi Pro League side back in front in extra time.

Phil Foden levelled again for City, but Leonardo’s second goal of the match in the 112th minute saw Simone Inzaghi’s side defeat City.

“We allowed them to create transitions but we created a lot and in general we were good,” Guardiola said.

“It’s a pity. We were in such a good place and I cannot say thank you enough to the staff, how they train and prepare, they have given everything.

“We made a lot of actions and Bounou made incredible saves. Nothing else to say.”
