Council of Governors (COG) Chair Anne Waiguru has emphasized the abundant investment opportunities available across the counties, urging investors to explore these untapped prospects.

Waiguru highlighted the diverse incentives and conducive business environments offered by counties to catalyze investment.

“Counties are the new frontier for investment,” stated Waiguru, underlining the unique opportunities present in each of Kenya’s 47 counties. She emphasized the efforts made by County Governments to streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and provide tax incentives to attract investors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Homabay County International Investment Conference (HOBIIC) in Homabay County, Waiguru urged investors to collaborate with County Governments in leveraging the country’s vast arable land and favorable climatic conditions for agricultural ventures.

Furthermore, she pointed out the strategic advantages of Kenya’s position as a regional hub for manufacturing, encouraging investors to capitalize on opportunities within County industrial parks, special economic zones, and exporting processing zones.

Waiguru also highlighted the significant potential in sectors such as renewable energy and healthcare, emphasizing the need for collaboration to tap into opportunities for clean energy production, modern medical facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and research partnerships.

In addition to economic sectors, Waiguru emphasized the tourism potential of Kenya, citing the country’s rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. She encouraged investment in eco-lodges, hospitality services, and related tourism ventures.

Addressing the pressing need for infrastructure development amid rapid urbanization, Waiguru stressed the investment opportunities in essential infrastructure projects, including the establishment of industries and aggregation centers in special economic zones.

On the technological front, the Kirinyaga County Governor outlined the adoption of digital technologies in agriculture and government services, emphasizing the role of online systems in revolutionizing service delivery.

Moreover, she highlighted initiatives aimed at empowering youth through digital skills training, as well as support for start-ups and entrepreneurs through incubation hubs and mentorship programs.

Waiguru emphasized the strategic importance of market linkages and value chain development, aligning county-level efforts with the broader national agenda to enhance productivity and foster inclusive economic growth.

In conclusion, Waiguru emphasized the pivotal role of County Governments in driving economic growth and invited investors to leverage the untapped potential within Kenya’s local economies.
