In Kaewa, Masinga, Machakos County, a 38-year-old churchgoer has been arrested and handed over to the police for allegedly breaking into AIC Kitula Church and stealing various items, including a gas cylinder and a gas hose.

The arrest follows suspicions from congregants who had noticed the disappearance of several items from the church premises.

They also accused the individual of possibly making a copy of the church’s keys. Nicholas Kiewa, the area assistant chief, confirmed the arrest and noted the concerns raised by the congregation regarding the repeated thefts.

“He was a guitar player at the church but when the congregants began suspecting that he was stealing church items, they stopped him from playing. They suspect he made copies of the church keys,” the administrator said.
The suspect is detained at the Kaewa police post.
