Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has commented on Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi’s retirement plans as the Copa America approaches.

Messi has been in stellar form since the start of the new Major League Soccer, MLS, season.

The Argentina captain has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in just 10 league games for Inter Miami.

As Messi prepares to represent Argentina in the upcoming Copa America, Alvarez was questioned about the future of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner with the national team.

He responded thus (via Mundo Albiceleste):” Let’s hope so. He will decide until when but hopefully, he will. We want him to be there.”
