Detectives are investigating a shooting incident in Majogi village, Meru County, where gunmen attacked a couple at their home. Stephen Makanju was hit by three gunshots to his stomach, while his wife sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, according to police. The assailants also attempted to set fire to the couple’s four-bedroom house but failed. They shot at the main door and killed one of the cows.
Police recovered two spent 5.56mm cartridges at the scene, which will be sent for ballistic analysis. The victims have been taken to Kiwa Mission Hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
