The Kibera Law Courts have issued a warrant of arrest for Nairobi-based car dealer Robert Bundi Muga, who is facing charges of stealing a Range Rover valued at KSh33 million.

The warrant was issued after Muga failed to appear in court for a scheduled mention of the case. His legal team informed the court that he was unwell, but failed to provide any medical documentation to support the claim—a factor that weighed heavily in the court’s decision.

In its ruling, the court emphasized the lack of evidence validating the defense’s explanation for Muga’s absence.

The court had convened to confirm whether the defense had received critical evidence, including CCTV footage and M-Pesa transaction statements, which the defense claims are still outstanding.

In addition, the defense revealed that both parties were pursuing an out-of-court settlement and requested more time to finalize negotiations.

However, the prosecution objected, stating that it had already supplied the defense with witness statements from six individuals, the charge sheet, a forensic report, and a brief from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“The accused has not appeared in court, and no medical evidence has been provided to justify his absence,” the prosecution argued, successfully securing the warrant.

Meanwhile, Muga is also entangled in a separate legal dispute involving the sale of a Mercedes-Benz E350, registration number KDS 724T, valued at KSh4.1 million. The case has attracted attention following allegations of fraud and conflicting ownership claims.

According to police statements, the vehicle was purchased by Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a, who claims he paid the full amount to Muga, who presented himself as an agent for the car’s registered owner, Peter Munene Njoroge. Brandon says that upon realizing the ownership dispute, he returned the vehicle to its legal owner and is now seeking a refund.
