Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday morning condoled with the family of former Antubetwe Kiongo Ward MCA George Kaliunga who was killed during a banditry attack in Meru County.
Kaliunga was allegedly shot in the chest on Sunday by bandits, suspected to be from Isiolo county, when he was pursuing them after stealing his livestock.
According to reports, the former MCA was shot during a fire exchange between the bandits and officers who were accompanying him.
Igembe North OCPD William Letting said that the bandits were driving the stolen livestock toward Kinna in Isiolo.
In a statement on Tuesday, CS Kindiki ordered the matter to be investigated expeditiously to bring the perpetrators to book.
He likewise “ordered immediate deployment of more security officers to contain cases of insecurity in Meru North region.”
