Safaricom has introduced a notable change to its M-Pesa service, lowering the minimum amount for airtime purchases from Sh5 to Sh1. This adjustment allows users to buy airtime for as little as Sh1, and the update has already been implemented, as confirmed by recent checks.

Additionally, Safaricom has announced a new fee structure for reverse calls. Starting this week, users will incur a charge of Sh0.50 for reverse calls after the first two requests made in a day. The first two reverse calls each day will remain free for the initiator. This fee aims to address concerns over misuse of the service, particularly by individuals who opt for reverse calls despite having sufficient airtime.

The reverse call service will only be available for calls within the Safaricom network.
