Deputy County Commissioner Obed Mose on May 27, revealed that DCI detectives have taken over the matter and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The shooting incident has caused uproar, with families of the four victims demanding justice. The four youths are receiving treatment at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital after they were allegedly shot by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers drawn from the Lake Nakuru National Park on Saturday evening.
The four are said to have been shot in Barut village, Nakuru West Constituency by officers who were conducting a sting operation to flush out illegal fishermen.
Mr Titus Mitau, who is in charge of the park, on Monday, May 27, said that the incident report has been forwarded to the DCI detectives for investigations.
On Sunday, May 26, evening residents held protests in the area demanding answers. According to a victim, Alvin Williams, 19, he spent his afternoon at home with his siblings then he decided to take an evening stroll within the neighbourhood not knowing what was awaiting him.
On his way, he met his friend and the two opted to visit Lake Nakuru which has since flooded due to the ongoing rains.
However, as they walked it started raining and they sought shelter in one of the homes and left when the rain stopped, that’s when the shooting happened.
Another victim, Obed Luka, said he was at home with his friends when three KWS cars with officers onboard parked nearby. A woman cried for help, and when they rushed to her aid, Luka said they were shot at.
