Police have asked members of the public to help them apprehend a woman believed to be involved in the murder of former Nairobi Hospital’s finance director, Eric Maigo.
Detectives have appealed to the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the woman, who was photographed leaving the crime scene.
Maigo was killed in the early hours of September 15, 2023, at his home in Woodley, Nairobi. His lifeless body was found in a pool of blood next to his bed. Two bloodstained knives, believed to be the murder weapons, were recovered from the scene.
A post-mortem conducted on Saturday revealed that he was stabbed 25 times in the chest, neck and face.
“He was stabbed 25 times on the chest, neck and face and what killed him was external and internal bleeding,” government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor said, adding that he had forwarded the findings to investigating officers.
Detectives say, the suspect, who was seen leaving the victim’s home in Woodley Annex-Upper, is believed to have been involved in the murder before she escaped through the back door.
Friends and neighbours of the deceased said they do not know the mysterious woman. Police are seeking information from all those who came into contact with the deceased who had just been appointed acting finance director at Nairobi Hospital.
The assailant, according to the Kilimani Police Station commander Moss Ndiwa, is suspected to have escaped through the window after committing the murder.
“We are still investigating the case but neighbours said they heard him moaning in pain and the woman who was in the house refused to open the door but had escaped by the time police arrived,” said Mr Ndiwa.
