Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over allegations of incitement. According to a letter s,Babu has been asked to provide information regarding an inquiry into allegations of incitement and money laundering.

The DCI believes Babu possesses information that could assist with the investigation.

The Embakasi East legislator is expected to appear at the DCI Nairobi County headquarters on Wednesday. “I request you, Hon. Babu Owino, to report to me at DCI Nairobi County Headquarters Police station today on the 24th day of July, 2024, at 9:00 hrs and furnish me with full information concerning the case,” reads the summons issued by Detective Eunice Njue.

The letter, shared by the MP on his social media pages, also states, “Failure to comply with the above requirement renders you liable for prosecution.”

In his social media posts, the legislator described the summons as “total madness.” Speaking to the Star about the allegations, Babu characterized the investigation as a witchhunt meant to intimidate him. “These are very crazy investigations. It is all politics. This is just meant to intimidate me because of my stand with the people. But I will not be cowed,” Babu said.
