Police officers in the Parklands area are investigating an incident where a man died at a construction site.

Mr Samson Muhanji was busy at the construction site of SMB Suites Limited, which is located along Githuri Road, when the incident happened.

According to the police, Mr Muhanji was constructing a slab when it caved in on him while he was on the 18th floor of the building. Nairobi News has also established that four more workers were injured.

One of the site workers said they were not being provided with protective gear, making their jobs quite risky.

“We also fear raising the concerns because they will kick you out,” said the worker, who spoke in confidence due to the matter’s sensitivity.

Currently, officials attached to the National Construction Authority (NCA) and the county government are investigating the matter.

When Nairobi News contacted SMB Suites Limited for a comment, they promised to get back, but by the time of going to press, they had not done so.

Such cases of construction workers dying while they are at work have been on the increase in the recent past.

The cases have been reported within the Parklands, Eastleigh, and Pangani areas.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy drowned in a water borehole at a construction site located in Mwiki, Kasarani Sub-County, in Nairobi.

Locals told the police that the deceased was playing with other children in the area when he slid and fell inside the hole.

Efforts to rescue the minor after his peers reached out to the parents, he had already drowned.

Police officers attached to Mwiki Police Station visited the scene and found that the body had already been withdrawn from the hole.

Already, the owner of the construction site is being questioned by the police over the incident.

As each president vows to take action that never materializes, deaths mount on the Nithi Bridge.
