The County government of Kericho has provided updates on the condition of the injured victims and death toll following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at the Londiani junction along the busy Nakuru-Kericho highway on Friday, June 30, 2023.

According to a statement released by the Kericho governor Erick Mutai, a total of 52 lives have been lost. Out of those, 31 were male, 18 were female, and 2 were children.

The county boss also stated that 10 individuals have been referred to health facilities in Nakuru County, with their conditions being closely monitored.

Within Kericho County, six injured victims have been admitted to the Kericho County Referral Hospital and the Londiani Sub County Hospital.

Similarly, one individual remains in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the Kericho County Referral Hospital while five others are in stable condition and are currently recuperating in the hospital’s general ward.

The county authorities have shared some positive news amid the tragic circumstances, announcing that 11 individuals who sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged.

However, one person is still under observation in the casualty section, receiving the necessary medical attention.

Mutai commiserated with the families, friends, and relatives of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.

“We wish to take this opportunity to condole with the family, friends, and relatives, of those who perished in yesterday’s unfortunate horrible road crash,” the statement reads in parts.

“We also wish to assure the general public that our medical personnel are doing their best to ensure that those injured in the accident are closely monitored, and given the medical attention they require,” the statement added.

Further, the county authorities made an appeal to the public urging them to restrain from sharing distressing photos and unverified information regarding the accident.

“Finally, we appeal to members of the public to exercise restraint regarding the sharing of tormenting photos and unverified information of the incident,” the statement concluded.
