Four university students believed to be part of a gang behind a spate of robberies in Ruai, Juja, Kayole and surrounding areas were arrested on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the four were nabbed after an undercover police operation that followed intelligence leads that the four freshmen were part of the gang terrorizing residents in the areas mentioned above.

Prior to the arrests of the suspects, the officers arrested a 19-year-old Kenyatta University student who led them to his three accomplices.

“Detectives are interrogating four university students believed to be part of a gang behind incidents of violent robberies in Ruai, Juja, Kayole and surrounding areas. This is after an undercover team of police officers,” the statement reads in parts.

“The suspect led the officers to his 3 accomplices who are fellow freshers, living at Kwa Benson apartments in Juja’s Container area. During the operation, Richard Lankisa, 18, Brian Kituku, 19 and Emmanuel Nyangwencha, 18, all of them pursuing a degree course in Development Studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology were arrested,” the statement added.
