Detectives from the DCI’s Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) have arrested two people, a driver and his turnboy during an operation that busted a suspected human trafficking ring.

According to detectives familiar with the case, 17 people thought to be victims of human trafficking were rescued during the operation at Makupa Bridge.

The operation began with a tip from the public and resulted in the arrests of two trafficking suspects: a driver, Richard Mbeke, and his turnboy, Joseph Ndungu.

According to police, the entire group will be arraigned Thursday morning in a Mombasa court.
