The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that a consignment of bhang worth Ksh11 million has been recovered in Kisii county.

In a statement, the DCI noted that the illegal goods which were being ferried on a Toyota Prado were recovered after the detectives acting on intelligence intercepted the vehicle as it was headed to Kilgoris town.

At the time of the operation, the detectives who were on active patrol sighted the vehicle and immediately signalled the driver to stop but he defied orders and sped off, prompting the officers to go after him.

The suspect made a U-turn towards Kanyenye, before abandoning his vehicle within Matembe area after he realised that the detectives were going after him.

“During the afternoon recovery, the officers who were on an active patrol had sighted a white Toyota Prado that was loaded with a suspicious consignment heading towards Kilgoris town.

When realized that he was being trailed by our men, he abandoned the vehicle within Metembe area and escaped on foot, (SIC)” ,” the statement reads in parts.
