Tanzanian music stars Diamond Platnumz and Ommy Dimpoz have visited President Samia Suluhu Hassan at her home in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, to offer condolences following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
Diamond, whose real name is Nasibu Abdul, was among those who visited the President on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as she continued to receive messages of comfort from leaders, public figures and members of the public.
Ommy Dimpoz also travelled to Kizimkazi alongside other personalities to condole with Samia following the death of her husband.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan died on September 7, 2026, at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition. He was buried the same day in Kizimkazi, following Islamic funeral rites.
Diamond’s message
Diamond shared a condolence message directed to President Samia, describing Hafidh as her beloved husband.
“Your Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved husband, Hafidh Ameir,” Diamond wrote.
“Ninatoa pole zangu za dhati kwako, familia yako, ndugu, jamaa na Watanzania wote kwa msiba mzito wa kuondokewa na mume wako mpendwa, Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan.”
He prayed for comfort and strength for the president and her family during the difficult period.
“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and give you and your family strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,” he added.
Ommy Dimpoz’s message
Ommy Dimpoz also expressed his condolences to Samia and her family following the loss.
“Mheshimiwa Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Dkt. Samia Suluhu Hassan. Ninatoa pole zangu za dhati kwako, familia yako, ndugu, jamaa na Watanzania wote kwa msiba mzito wa kuondokewa na mume wako mpendwa, Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan.” Ommy described the period as difficult and filled with grief, asking God to give Samia strength, patience, comfort and peace as she mourns.
“Tunamuomba Mwenyezi Mungu akupatie nguvu, subira, faraja na utulivu katika kipindi hiki cha maombolezo,” he said.
He also prayed for Hafidh’s soul to rest in peace and asked God to forgive his shortcomings while giving the bereaved family strength.
“Mwenyezi Mungu ailaze roho ya marehemu Mzee Hafidh Ameir Hassan mahali pema peponi, amsamehe makosa yake na awape familia yote moyo wa subira katika kipindi hiki kigumu,” Ommy said.
The visits came as Samia continued to receive condolences at her Kizimkazi home. Several political, religious and public figures have also visited her following the death of Hafidh, who was Tanzania’s First Gentleman after Samia became president in 2021.
