Diamond Platnumz has taken legal action against Tanzanian blogger Mwijaku, with his lawyers issuing a formal demand letter seeking damages of KSh 123 million over a string of allegedly defamatory statements made about the celebrated musician.

The legal letter, which surfaced online on November 5, 2026, was drafted by a law firm based at Scout Building, Malik Road, Upanga in Dar es Salaam.

It firmly rejects two specific claims made against Diamond, including allegations that his high-profile airport reception was nothing more than a choreographed publicity stunt and that he had personally negotiated the elaborate welcome, complete with trucks and hired crowds, as part of a contractual arrangement.

According to the letter, Diamond’s legal team described all the allegations as “false, fabricated and without any factual foundation.”

The lawyers were categorical that their client never negotiated or demanded any such reception as a contractual requirement, calling the characterisation of events entirely baseless.

The document goes further to flag a separate incident that allegedly occurred on 4 November 2026, just a day before the letter emerged.

His programme titled 18 ZA DC aired on Instagram and reportedly referred to Diamond using the Swahili term “Omba Omba,” portraying him as someone soliciting funds for a private jet.

The letter also notes that an individual identified as “Mzenji” was named as an alleged financier of the private jets. Diamond was further referred to as “Takataka,” a derogatory Swahili word, during the same broadcast.

The demand letter frames these broadcasts as fresh defamatory publications that compound the original grievances, strengthening the case for the substantial damages being sought.

Diamond’s team appears determined to pursue the matter formally rather than let the accusations circulate unchallenged in the public domain.

Diamond, one of East Africa’s biggest music exports, has built a career spanning well over a decade and commands a massive following across the continent.

The case signals that the Bongo Flava star is prepared to defend his reputation through the courts when faced with what he considers damaging and unfounded public claims.
