Celebrated Tanzanian media personality Diva The Bawse has opened up about her relationship with bongo flava star Alikiba while he was still married to his Kenyan wife Amina Khalef.
Diva, who currently works for Alikiba’s nemesis Diamond Platnumz as one of the radio presenters on Wasafi FM and TV, revealed her long secret love affair with the bongo music star.
The bilingual and eloquent presenter says she has been romantically involved with Alikiba for many years since her days as a presenter at Clouds FM.
However, she says the two were able to keep their romance hidden from the public eye and scrutiny for many years.
“Alikiba and I created such a deep, close bond and that’s why at the end of our relationship it turned out to be ugly. We were in sync in so many ways and that’s why we were able to keep our relationship under the radar for so many years,” Diva confesses.
To put things into perspective, Diva says he was dating Alikiba long before he met his Kenyan wife Amina Khalef.
Alikiba and Amina are now separated after a tumultuous three-year marriage.
“I was with Alikiba before he got married. I was with him before all the women he was involved with. Our relationship was hidden – very secret. But when he got married, we were no longer together,” says Diva.
One of the reasons she split from Alikiba was because she was not ready to settle down with the singer at the time.
“I wasn’t thinking about marriage at the time. Yes, he asked me to marry him, but it never crossed my mind. I was young, I wasn’t ready to be a wife at that time.
With Alikiba now married to Amina, Diva stayed out of the picture.
But Diva says she and Alikiba rekindled their romance when news came that Amina had filed for divorce.
Amina filed for divorce at Kadhi’s court in Mombasa in 2022 on the grounds that the singer had abandoned his marriage.
She also accused Alikiba of verbal abuse and infidelity and demanded Sh200,000 monthly maintenance from the singer for their two children.
“When it was announced that there had been a separation and that they were no longer together, there was a reunion,” she added.
However, Diva says she later found out that Alikiba hadn’t fully divorced Amina.
“When I found out he hadn’t divorced the lady, I stepped aside. I told him, ‘Ali, we can’t do this’. Just to be clear, I have never been Alikiba’s sidechick at any time”.
Diva says Alikiba was so angry when she decided to dump him for not being straight with her about the divorce situation.
“This is the drama that keeps happening to me. Whenever I tell someone that I don’t want this relationship anymore, that person will always attack me. He will beg me to stay and if I stand my ground, he will end up attacking me”.
Diva has since moved on to another relationship and insists she no longer has any feelings for the singer.
