Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday evening engaged with the Kenyans living in Italy about the government’s plan on financial inclusivity underscoring the provision of credit under the Hustler Fund program.
The engagement came after he attended the United Nations (UN) Food Systems Financing Summit on behalf of President William Ruto.
He detailed the government’s progress in lifting Kenyans at the bottom of the pyramid by allocating and distributing low-cost credit.
“We have also come up with financial inclusion with a 10 billion Hustler Fund to enable the majority of Kenyans at the bottom of the pyramid to access cheap credits to be able to engage in farming. And as I speak, every Kenyan can access some credit cheaply and once they pay they keep on borrowing and so far we have lent 28 billion,” the DP stated.
He further appreciated the Kenyans for demonstrating resilience and patriotism, thereby fostering the government’s commitment to making Kenyans lives better.
“Kenyans across the World have demonstrated hard work, resilience, discipline, and patriotism. We salute all Kenyans living and working abroad for living true to Kenya and being good ambassadors for our great Nation,” he said.
“Thank you for your hospitality and continued hard work. We remain committed to our course as a Government to make the life of every single Kenyan better,” he added.
The second in command had earlier spoken to the UN Food Summit about the call to restructure and review the financial architecture, highlighting that the existing architecture is disadvantageous to most African countries.
