The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has nabbed four public officers found working with fake academic certificates.

The Commission’s Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed that Edna Bitange, an assistant elections officer at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Mark Chebitwey, working in the commission’s revenue allocation department were apprehended on Wednesday following a heightened crackdown.

The other two include Francis Mfundi who is an employee at the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority while Brenda Sulungai is a community development assistant at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.

The four will take plea to various charges of forgery of academic certificates before the Milimani Anti-Corruption court today, Thursday, October 31.

Their arrest comes amid an ongoing crackdown on fake academic and professional certificates in the country as the commission aims to weed out all public officers working without appropriate documentation.
