Chelsea legend Karen Carney has expressed concern over midfielder Enzo Fernandez despite the Blues beating Newcastle United in the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Chelsea defeated Newcastle 4-2 on penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Callum Wilson and Mykhailo Mudryk scored the goals during normal time.
However, the spotlight was on Fernandez after the game.
The Argentina World Cup winner was brought back into the starting XI, starting alongside Moises Caicedo in midfield.
But Fernandez was subbed off in the 32nd minute for Armando Broja for reportedly not feeling well.
He looked distraught at full-time even though Mauricio Pochettino’s side won the match.
Speaking about Fernandez, Carney said (via The Chelsea Chronicle): “He looks upset there Enzo, hopefully it is not serious or an injury or anything.”
