An Administration Police officer who shot her husband 12 times to death in Eldoret will remain in custody for 14 more days so as to allow police to complete investigations.

Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan on Monday, the investigating officer Stephen Nzau sought more time, noting they are yet to exhaust their investigations.

He said a post-mortem is to be conducted to reveal the cause of death.

Lilian Biwott is accused of shooting her husband during a domestic quarrel on Saturday night after going back home from her duty.

The officer, a mother of three, had been on duty at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) before returning home early with her service firearm.

Witnesses reported hearing a heated argument between the couple before gunshots rang, prompting neighbours to flee for their safety.

The policewoman allegedly fired more than 12 bullets inside their home, killing her husband.

She fled the scene after the shooting but later turned herself in at the Eldoret police station, where she was arrested.
