Embu Woman Representative Pamela Njoki Njeru has urged school-going girls to desist from early dating.

Speaking at Nembure primary school when she was launching her tournament for the youths dubbed ‘Tripple J women Tournament ‘ on Saturday, June 3, 2023, Njeru noted that those dating while still in school were wasting their time since they were dating their fellow students who could only afford to give them Ksh 50 for bodaboda ride.

She said that the only relationship that school-going children should have is a relationship with their books since it is long-lasting and beneficial.

“When these people come your way to request relationships advice them to step far, let’s not entertain them while in school, education first,” she said.

She stated that students are free to mingle but they should have boundaries.

The MP also advised schoolboys not to indulge in drug abuse as it was a ticket to ruining their education and missing slots in the competitive job market.

The legislator affirmed her commitment to supporting women in sports noting that the drive motivated her to launch a tournament for women and called on locals and other stakeholders to support her course to make it successful.

“I am committed to ensuring that women shine in soccer as boys since they have talents that need to be nurtured,” she said.

Charles Njagi who is the Chairman of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) lauded the initiative saying it’s one of its kind.

“As FKF we are delighted by this initiative from the women rep, we have seen the value it will bring to women in sports,” he observed.

On his part, bishop John Mukundi of Achievers College said the games will reduce cases of mental health among the girls.
