Employment in Germany to begin in two weeks – Ruto

President William Ruto has announced that the recruitment process for Kenyans seeking employment in Germany under the newly signed labour mobility agreement will commence in two weeks.

Speaking on Sunday, Ruto revealed that the first recruitment event is scheduled for September 27, 2024. He expressed satisfaction that his earlier statements about the program’s launch are now coming to fruition, despite skepticism from some quarters.

“When I announced that Kenyan youths would have the opportunity to work in Germany, some doubted my words. However, it has now become reality, and as of Friday, some Kenyans have already begun working there,” Ruto said.

The recruitment exercise will follow the Comprehensive Agreement on Sharing of Labour, Talent, and Mobility signed between Kenya and Germany in Berlin on Saturday. The agreement will allow Germany to admit 250,000 skilled and semi-skilled Kenyan workers under a controlled labour migration deal. It will also simplify the repatriation process for Kenyans currently in Germany without legal documentation.

Ruto defended the initiative against naysayers, suggesting that their disbelief is due to a lack of vision. “Those who doubt are walking by sight, not by faith. I am confident that the will of God will always prevail for Kenya,” he stated.
