A section of residents from Kisima area in Samburu county held demos on Wednesday to protest against rising levels of insecurity in the last month.

Several shops have been broken into in the period and the culprits are believed to be area residents.

Locals urged the county government to intervene and beef up security in the area.

“We have had enough. Our shops are being broken into and our goods and money stolen, making us unable to operate and make a living to support ourselves,” one local said.

Area MP Naisula Lesuuda condemned the crime, urging the area DCC to add more security personnel and increase patrols in the town.

Area DCC Titus Omanyi said more police will be deployed, adding that culprits will be brought to book.
